Quinclorac 250 g/L SC Herbicide

  • Overview
  • Recommended Products
1.This product is a 250 g/L quinclorac suspension concentrate (SC), belonging to the quinolinecarboxylic acid class of selective herbicides. Quinclorac is absorbed by roots, shoots, and leaves of susceptible weeds, and acts by inhibiting cellulose biosynthesis and interfering with auxin transport, leading to abnormal cell wall formation, stem swelling and cracking, and ultimately plant death. It is highly effective against barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli) and other problematic weeds in rice.

2.It is specifically developed for use in rice (direct‑seeded, transplanted, and dry‑seeded rice) to control barnyard grass at all growth stages, as well as certain annual grasses, broad‑leaved weeds, and sedges. It also provides suppression of some resistant biotypes. Always apply according to the recommended rates within the registered and approved areas.

Key Functions

Quinclorac is a systemic herbicide with both foliar and root activity. It is rapidly absorbed by the leaves, shoots, and roots of susceptible weeds and translocated acropetally and basipetally via the xylem and phloem. Its primary mode of action involves inhibition of cellulose biosynthesis in rapidly growing tissues, leading to disruption of cell wall formation. Additionally, quinclorac interferes with the polar transport of auxin, causing abnormal auxin accumulation and resulting in excessive ethylene production. This triggers a cascade of symptoms: initial chlorosis and stunting, followed by swelling and cracking of stems at the nodes, splitting of leaf sheaths, and eventual wilting and necrosis of the growing points. The herbicide is particularly effective against barnyard grass, even at advanced growth stages, and provides residual control of emerging seedlings for several weeks after application. Its efficacy is enhanced under warm, humid conditions.

Key Benefits

1.Excellent control of barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli) across all growth stages – from 1‑leaf to tillering – including resistant biotypes that are tolerant to other herbicide classes (e.g., ACCase inhibitors and ALS inhibitors).
2.Broad‑spectrum activity against other annual grasses, as well as several important broad‑leaved weeds (such as Heteranthera limosa, Monochoria vaginalis, and Sagittaria pygmaea) and sedges (Cyperus difformis, C. iria) in rice fields.
3.Highly selective to rice (both indica and japonica varieties) when applied at recommended rates and timings; minimal crop injury even under adverse weather conditions, making it a reliable choice for rice production systems.
4.Flexible application timing – can be used from early post‑emergence (2‑leaf stage of weeds) up to the late tillering stage of rice, providing extended windows for weed management.
5.SC formulation offers excellent suspensibility, good dispersion stability, and low viscosity, ensuring easy mixing and uniform application; it is dust‑free and compatible with most commonly used rice herbicides and adjuvants.
6.Favorable environmental profile – low persistence in soil and rapid degradation under aerobic conditions, with minimal risk of carry‑over to rotational crops when used as directed.

●The actual applicable crops and control spectrum shall strictly comply with the provisions of the locally registered label.
