Mancozeb 64% + Metalaxyl 8% WP Fungicide
This product is a wettable powder (WP) formulation containing mancozeb (64%) and metalaxyl (8%), a broad-spectrum fungicide with both protective and systemic curative activity. Mancozeb is a multi-site contact fungicide that protects plant surfaces, while metalaxyl is a systemic phenylamide fungicide that inhibits RNA synthesis in the pathogen, providing curative and eradicant activity against oomycete diseases. The combination ensures comprehensive control of downy mildews and late blights.

Key Functions
This product is a wettable powder containing mancozeb (64%) and metalaxyl (8%). Mancozeb is a dithiocarbamate multi-site contact fungicide that inhibits sulfhydryl-containing enzymes involved in pyruvate oxidation and fatty acid metabolism, disrupting ATP production and spore germination. It forms a protective barrier on plant surfaces. Metalaxyl is a systemic phenylamide fungicide (FRAC Group 4) that inhibits RNA polymerase I in oomycetes, blocking ribosomal RNA synthesis and preventing mycelial growth and sporulation. It is absorbed by roots and leaves and translocated acropetally within the plant, providing curative and eradicant activity. The combination offers both preventive protection and post-infection curative action, effectively managing diseases caused by oomycetes and reducing the risk of resistance development.
Key Benefits
1. This product combines two complementary active ingredients – mancozeb (64%) as a multi-site protective fungicide and metalaxyl (8%) as a systemic curative fungicide. This dual action provides robust control of downy mildew and late blight in a wide range of crops, including potatoes, tomatoes, grapes, cucumbers, and more.
2. The mancozeb component offers a broad protective barrier with multiple modes of action, significantly reducing the risk of fungicide resistance, while metalaxyl penetrates plant tissues to stop infections that have already started. Together they ensure long-lasting disease control and improved crop quality.
3. Metalaxyl is rapidly absorbed by foliage and roots, providing systemic protection to new growth. The formulation has good rainfastness (within 2–4 hours after application) and offers extended residual activity (up to 7–10 days), reducing the need for frequent sprays and lowering production costs.
4. The WP formulation is easy to measure and suspend in water, with excellent wettability and suspension stability. It is compatible with most other pesticides (except strongly alkaline products) and is safe to crops when used as directed, making it an ideal choice for integrated disease management (IDM) programs.
