- Overview
- Recommended Products

1.This product is a 200 g/L diquat soluble concentrate (SL), belonging to the bipyridylium class of non-selective contact herbicides. Diquat acts by diverting electrons from Photosystem I during photosynthesis, producing reactive oxygen species (hydrogen peroxide and superoxide radicals) that rapidly destroy green plant tissues. This leads to desiccation and necrosis of contacted foliage within hours after application.
2.It is widely used as a pre-harvest desiccant/defoliant for potatoes, sweet potatoes, beans, and soybeans, as well as for directed spray weed control in orchards, tea gardens, and non-crop areas (roadsides, industrial sites). It effectively controls a broad spectrum of annual broad-leaved weeds and grasses. Always apply according to the recommended rates within the registered and approved areas.

Key Functions
Diquat is a non-selective, contact herbicide that acts by inhibiting photosynthesis at Photosystem I. Upon absorption by green plant tissues, it accepts electrons from the photosynthetic electron transport chain and reacts with molecular oxygen to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS), including hydrogen peroxide and superoxide radicals. These highly reactive compounds rapidly oxidize unsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes, leading to immediate membrane disintegration, electrolyte leakage, and coagulation of cell contents. Visible scorching and chlorosis appear within 2–4 hours after application, followed by complete desiccation of treated foliage within 1–2 days. As a contact herbicide with no systemic translocation, diquat only affects the plant parts it directly contacts, making it ideal for desiccation and directed spray applications. Its rapid action in dry climates is particularly valued for harvest management.
Key Benefits
1.Ultra-fast action – visible burning symptoms appear within 2–4 hours, providing rapid visual results and quick knockdown of emerged weeds, which is critical for harvest preparation.
2.Broad-spectrum non-selective control of a wide range of annual broad-leaved weeds (Amaranthus, Chenopodium, Xanthium, Portulaca, etc.) and annual grasses, offering versatile application options.
3.Excellent pre-harvest desiccant/defoliant for potatoes, sweet potatoes, beans and soybeans, which significantly improves mechanical harvesting efficiency, reduces tuber/pod damage, and enhances skin set and crop quality.
4.Rapidly inactivated upon contact with soil – strongly adsorbed by clay minerals and organic matter, resulting in no soil residual activity or carry-over damage to subsequent crops, making it highly environment-friendly.
5.Soluble concentrate (SL) formulation is water-soluble, easy to pour, measure and mix, dust-free, and user-friendly, with excellent tank-mix compatibility.
