Lambda-Cyhalothrin 10% + Imidacloprid 22.8% WP insecticide

  • Overview
  • Recommended Products
This product is a 10% lambda-cyhalothrin + 22.8% imidacloprid wettable powder (WP) formulation, belonging to a synergistic binary insecticide combination of a pyrethroid and a neonicotinoid. Lambda-cyhalothrin acts as a sodium channel modulator (IRAC Group 3A), causing rapid knockdown through contact and stomach action, while imidacloprid acts as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) agonist (IRAC Group 4A), providing systemic control of sucking pests. The dual mode of action delivers contact, stomach, and systemic activity, ensuring rapid knockdown combined with long-lasting residual control and effective resistance management.
Suitable for various crops such as cotton, rice, vegetables (cabbage, tomato, okra, brinjal, chilli, etc.), fruit trees, tea, and other agricultural crops. It is used to control a wide range of insect pests including aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies, leafhoppers, brown planthoppers, bollworms, and diamondback moth. Please use according to the recommended dosage within the registered and approved areas.

Key Functions

This product is a synergistic binary insecticide combination containing lambda-cyhalothrin (10%) and imidacloprid (22.8%) formulated as a wettable powder (WP). Lambda-cyhalothrin is a synthetic Type II pyrethroid insecticide developed by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI, later Zeneca/Syngenta) in the 1970s–1980s. It acts primarily on the insect nervous system by modulating voltage-gated sodium channels (Nav), preventing the closure of these channels and causing prolonged nerve depolarization, hyperexcitation, paralysis, and death. This mechanism is classified as IRAC Group 3A (Sodium channel modulators — Pyrethroids, Pyrethrins). Lambda-cyhalothrin exhibits strong contact and stomach action with rapid knockdown effect and repellent properties. Imidacloprid is a first-generation neonicotinoid insecticide introduced by Bayer CropScience in the early 1990s. It acts as an agonist of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) in the insect central nervous system, blocking acetylcholine at the postsynaptic membrane and causing irreversible impairment of nerve transmission, leading to paralysis, tremors, loss of motor coordination, and death. This mechanism is classified as IRAC Group 4A (Nicotinic acetylcholine receptor agonists — Neonicotinoids). Imidacloprid exhibits excellent systemic activity, being rapidly absorbed by roots and foliage and translocated throughout the plant, providing long-lasting control of pests even on the underside of leaves or in protected feeding sites. The combination of these two active ingredients with different modes of action provides complementary pest control: lambda-cyhalothrin delivers rapid knockdown and controls chewing pests, while imidacloprid provides systemic, residual control of sucking pests. The synergistic effect of the two active ingredients enhances overall insecticidal efficacy and reduces the risk of resistance development. The wettable powder (WP) formulation disperses readily in water, is easy to measure and mix, and is suitable for conventional foliar spray application. Both active ingredients are highly toxic to aquatic organisms and honeybees; appropriate precautions must be taken during application to minimize non-target exposure.

Key Benefits

1. Dual mode of action — combines lambda-cyhalothrin (IRAC Group 3A, sodium channel modulator) and imidacloprid (IRAC Group 4A, nAChR agonist), providing complementary contact and systemic activity for comprehensive pest control.
2. Broad-spectrum insecticidal activity effectively controlling a wide range of chewing and sucking pests, including aphids, jassids, thrips, whiteflies, leafhoppers, brown planthoppers, cotton bollworms, diamondback moth, and cabbage caterpillar.
3. Rapid knockdown effect — lambda-cyhalothrin provides fast-acting contact and stomach toxicity, causing pests to stop feeding and moving soon after exposure.
4. Excellent systemic activity — imidacloprid is rapidly absorbed by plants and translocated throughout the plant, providing long-lasting residual control of sucking pests on the underside of leaves and in protected feeding sites.
5. Synergistic effect — the combination of lambda-cyhalothrin and imidacloprid improves the residual effect over their use alone, providing enhanced and longer-lasting pest control.
6. Effective resistance management — the combination of two different modes of action helps delay the development of resistance in pest populations, making it suitable for Insect Resistance Management (IRM) and rotation programs.
7. Wide range of application, suitable for cotton, rice, vegetables (cabbage, tomato, okra, brinjal, chilli, etc.), fruit trees, tea, and other agricultural crops.
8. Wettable powder (WP) formulation — disperses readily in water, easy to measure and mix, with good stability and suitable for conventional foliar spray application.
9. Cost-effective — the synergistic combination provides enhanced efficacy at lower application rates compared to individual active ingredients, reducing overall input costs.
